What Is Fake Fur?Updated 2 years ago

First and foremost we want you to know that the entire collection of Spirithoods products have always been #furfree (aka no animals are ever harmed), and we donate 10% back to endangered animals.

Now that that’s out of the way let talk quickly about the process of making Faux or Fake fur.

Traditionally, it begins with the process of manufacturing synthetic fibers like polyester, acrylic or a blend of natural and synthetic fibers (synthetics btw are typically hypoallergenic) that are sewn into a polyester backing or netting.

This has been the standard practice for since 1929 and generally the quality of the fibers makes the biggest difference in the appearance and feel of all products from throws to coats.

All SpiritHoods Faux Furs and liners are OEKO-Tex Certified meaning there are NO harmful chemicals or dyes used to make our faux furs or liners.

We are currently working on developing a 100% all-natural faux fur that we hope to have prowlin' out to the online store in the next year or two!
